What’s a Collective Agreement?
A collective agreement is a legally-binding agreement negotiated between the employer and the union. It specifies our rights as workers, and the limits on the employer’s power in the workplace. It details everything from wages, vacation, leave of absence, benefits, health and safety, job postings, dues, layoffs, seniority, discipline, dispute resolution, and the grievance and arbitration process.
